So last night we were listening to Dolla Bill and were all telling stories about our trips to Mexico and stuff... and I found out one of my friends had never went and crossed the border into TJ... I told him it was ridiculously easy and a gnarly adventure... but he didn't believe me... so we went to experience it first hand... we parked the car before the border (never drive in) and walked across...
1st off, white boys walking into Tijuana late on a Tuesday night is already, veryyyy sketch. So we walk around getting attacked for donations, having kids begging us and trying to sell us stuff, and watching the stray dogs run around. After walking around for about 20 mins and realizing that we probably shouldn't be aimlessly wandering Mexico on the streets and so we get in a taxi.
For $10... The taxi seriously hung out with us and drove us around for an hour and half.. he liked rap music, so I was spitting some hot flows for him. honestly, chillin with that guy that was the highlight of the trip.. we made like 4 or 5 different stops and actually saw a lot of cool stuff... and a lot more of not-so-cool haha. The whole time we spent in Mexico honestly wasn't too bad; but then after he let us off at the border... and i had to cross back home and that’s when hell started.
So we wait 30 minutes in this long as line... my friend just has his ID & passport, and I brought my ID with my birth certificate. My friend goes and passes through literally with not a problem at all. When it gets to my turn, I give him my papers, and he's like "what were you doing in Mexico"... don't remember what I said; it was catchy but it obviously didn't work haha... they fill out this yellow card and send me with a guy to get searched...
Didn't even break a sweat, I was just like alright search me…
They do, and find nothing, but they take all my stuff and still put me in a holding cell... so I'm like wtf is this... why am I in here? Why can’t I use my phone? They then tell me it looks like there's a warrant out for my arrest and that their going to have to extradite me to the jail.... by this time, I've turned from understanding and calm to purely pissed. I asked her what the warrant was for, wouldn't tell me. Ask her to call anyone in my family and let them know I'm at least going to be alright... wouldn't do it. Then after a few hours they call me out of the holding cell... thinking I'm getting out, they strip-search me and then after they find nothing again they put me in handcuffs and back into the cell. After a few more hours, some new San Diego cops show up... and I'm thinking to myself... alright.. time to go to jail, well... the cop takes me out of the cell, searches me a 3rd time (they REALLY wanted to find something lol) and then tells me “It’s my LUCKY day, and that everything was a big misunderstanding.” He takes off the cuffs, and tells me I can go. So at finally 3:30 am they give me back most of my stuff (empty wallet of course) and I made it across the border back into the United States…
So I’m thinking great… it’s fucking almost 4, I have no money on me (thank god I left my atm card at home though) … so now I had to figure out how to get 30 miles back home… My friend was long gone (since he got through at about 9pm) and so I just walked in circles for like the first 15 minutes before I meet this really dope Mexican guy that offered me help with directions… I followed them and still got lost, but he ended up seeing me again and offers to give me a ride to the train station… after I tell him the story.. he’s like damn man you need a break.. Well I live right by here I got good news for you… you’ll be happy… so we take a detour to his house… and I’m thinking to myself.. Oh shit, now I’ve really got myself in a mess this dude is about to pull a gun or some crazy shit… instead of killing me… he grabs a blunt and we blaze up… fuck yea! Then he’s like… dude I can’t drive you home but I’ll take you to the train station to get home… so he took me there, give me money for a train, and I finally made it home at 6:30 this morning… I promise I will never even think about going to Mexico again but my life is always an adventure.
It's smarter not to cross haha...
